North Vermillion High School Athletics

The Falcons hosted their final home meet of the season on Thursday, January 25th. The Falcons competed against the South Newton Rebels and the Covington Trojans. The Falcons took 1st place in 11 of the 14 events on Thursday in route to victories by both the Boys and Girls Teams. Scores were Boys: North Vermillion - 50 South Newton - 5 Girls North Vermillion - 16 South Newton - 7 North Vermillion - 15 Covington - 12 First place finishers were 200 Medley Relay(Emery Strubinger, Owen Hazelwood, John Clay, Austin Ball) Chloe Doan - 200 Freestyle Dylan Lamb - 200 Freestyle Owen Hazelwood - 200 Individual Medley Austin Ball - 50 Freestyle Ben Winland - 100 Freestyle 200 Free Relay(John Clay, Emery Strubinger, Ben Winland, Austin Ball) Chloe Doan - 100 Backstroke Emery Strubinger - 100 Backstroke Gabbi Phelps - 100 Breaststroke 400 Free Relay(Brandon Miller, John Clay, Austin Ball, Ben Winland) 2nd Place finishers were John Clay - 50 Freestyle Gabbi Phelps - 100 Freestyle Brandon Miller - 100 Freestyle Payton Russell - 100 Backstroke Owen Hazelwood - 100 Breaststroke The Falcons also hosted Senior Night for Ben Winland. Ben has been a member of the swim team for two years. Ben has also been involved in Theatre and BPA in high school. After graduation, Ben plans to study business at Indiana State University. The girls kick off Sectional action next week on Thursday at Crawfordsville High School.
